The Linthicum community honored veterans with a wreath-laying ceremony and the dedication of the second round of commemorative bricks bearing the names and the branch of service of those who have served their nation during a dedication ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011.As part of the Veterans Day ceremony the names of over 200 honorees named on Commemorative Bricks and Bricks of Honor were read aloud. The ceremony was attended by nearly 100, including many uniformed veterans, as well as Sen. Ed DeGrange, and District 32 Delegates Mary Ann Love, Ted Sophocleus and Pam Beidle.
The effort to construct the Linthicum Veterans Memorial was borne out of the Linthicum Centennial Celebration in 2008. Ground was broken on the memorial Nov. 8, 2008. The memorial was officially dedicated on May 22, 2010. The Linthicum Veterans Memorial Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization created specifically to design, build and maintain a Veterans Memorial in Linthicum Heights, and the organization also manages the selling of commemorative bricks.
